Reporting into Head of Technology Delivery the
Cloud FinOps Tech Specialist
, is a new, integral role working with technologists across the organisation to drive cloud cost efficiency.

Working at the intersection of finance, engineering and DevOps – you will be responsible for leading on all FinOps practices, advising on cost optimisation and supporting with cloud service adoption.

This role plays a critical part in managing cloud spend, forecasting usage, and driving financial accountability across Quilter's technology and business teams. Partnering with the Technology Commercial & Strategic Resourcing Lead to develop a FinOps framework to maximise the business value of cloud.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading the financial operations of cloud services across the organisation, ensuring that they are cost-effective and aligned with business priorities
  • Collaborating with the Technology Commercial & Strategic Resourcing Lead to launch a FinOps Champions Programme that fosters a cultural shift towards proactive and accountable cloud cost management
  • Deliver expert technical guidance on cloud governance, cost optimisation, and best practice implementation
  • Define and implement tagging and usage policies to support effective cloud governance and cost transparency
  • Promote financial accountability for cloud spend through collaboration between engineering, finance and business teams
  • Partnering with engineering, security, infrastructure, and finance teams to align cloud usage with financial and strategic goals
  • Identify and drive cost-saving opportunities (e.g., rightsizing, scheduling, tooling)
  • Ensure consistent application of tagging and cost allocation standards to maintain transparency and control across cloud environments
  • Provide regular updates to senior leadership on cloud financial performance
  • Collaborate with procurement, finance, and compliance teams to ensure alignment and regulatory adherence
  • Educate users, engineering, and product teams on designing and operating cost-aware architectures to promote responsible cloud usage
  • Support audits and internal reviews related to cloud spend and financial controls

About You
To be successful in this role, you will ideally have the following skills/experience:

  • Strong technical understanding of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and their pricing models
  • Expertise in Azure services, networking and security principles
  • Strong skills in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and DevOps practices
  • Proven experience in cloud financial management (FinOps) within a financial services or regulated environment
  • Ability to research, analyse and present data-driven insights to technical leaders
  • Experience with cloud cost management tools
  • Analytical mindset, with strong commercial and financial acumen
  • Ability to think and act strategically
  • Strong technical problem-solving abilities to address complex cloud-related issues
  • Influence and stakeholder management skills across all levels and disciplines
