About the Role
We are seeking an experienced SC Cleared API Developer with expertise in designing, developing, and maintaining scalable and secure APIs. The ideal candidate will be responsible for defining API specifications, integrating APIs with various services, and ensuring high availability and performance. This role requires strong experience in API security, containerisation, and Agile methodologies.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain high-quality API services, primarily HTTP REST-based.
- Define API specifications using OpenAPI and other industry standards.
- Develop APIs to meet non-functional requirements such as performance, scalability, and reliability.
- Integrate APIs with various software components, including data stores and third-party services.
- Implement secure authentication methods such as OAuth 2.0, JWTs, and other security best practices.
- Work within an Agile delivery methodology, collaborating closely with cross-functional teams.
- Write and maintain automated unit tests alongside developed code.
- Develop and manage containerised solutions using Docker and Kubernetes.
- Work with API management platforms to ensure effective governance and control.
- Monitor API performance and optimise as necessary to ensure high availability and reliability.
- Support API troubleshooting and debugging efforts, resolving integration issues efficiently.
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices in API development and integration.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Proven experience in developing and maintaining APIs, including RESTful services.
- Strong ability to define API specifications using OpenAPI.
- Expertise in API security, including OAuth 2.0, JWTs, and access control mechanisms.
- Hands-on experience in at least one programming language (Python, JavaScript, Go, or Java).
- Experience developing and deploying containerised applications using Docker and Kubernetes.
- Familiarity with Agile methodologies and working within Agile teams.
- Knowledge of API management platforms.
- Strong understanding of cloud-based API deployment and infrastructure management.
- Experience with automated testing frameworks for API validation.
