Hours: Mon – Fri 8am- 4pm (possible shifts 6am-2.30pm, 10am-6.30pm, 2pm-10pm)

About the Job:

  • Assist the Transport Manager to manage and motivate the transport team to ensure that staff and assets are used effectively to attain maximum performance in terms of commercial contract efficiency, profit and client service levels.

· Develops and implements standard operating procedures for transport operations.

· Assist in managing the allocation and rotation of appropriate work assignments.

· Participate in organising and allocating orders in the most cost effective and efficient manner, ensuring that deliveries are made in accordance with our customers and business's requirements.

· Coordinate with drivers, dispatchers, and warehouse personnel to ensure timely and efficient transportation operations.

· Stay up to date with industry regulations and best practices for transportation planning.

· Recording of employee absence from work and notify the relevant management.

· Monitor & report driver issues such as: accidents, safety concerns, road closures and reporting to relevant management.

  • Provide leadership of day-to-day transport issues, including dispatch debrief and work in progress.
  • You will also be required to work closely with our customers to ensure the smooth running of the operation.
  • Provide regular reports to the Transport Manager on customer related and other relevant matters, making recommendations where relevant.
  • Monitoring and auditing Health and Safety (PPE)
  • Answering all queries via email, phone and face to face.
  • Assisting in production of KPI's and daily statistics.
  • Assist with compliance planning in line with company procedure.
  • Promoting and maintaining positive relationships with colleagues and offering support and assistance in your role as a team member.

The Candidate:

· A good team member with the ability to work in a small onsite team and nationally with transport teams from other sites.

· Knowledge of the transport industry.

· A good geographical knowledge.

· Be IT literate (training will be given on the transport systems used).

· Problem Solving.

· Well organised with excellent time management.

  • Experience of working in a similar role is preferred.
  • Ability to communicate at all levels.
  • Excellent organisational skills and prioritising workload.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Working to deadlines.
  • Solution driven and Flexible approach to your work.
  • MS packages to include, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
