Head of Regulatory Compliance
Ontic, a leading licensor and manufacturer of complex engineering parts for the global aerospace and defence industries, is now recruiting for a Head of Regulatory Compliance (HoRC) to join our Quality team at our Cheltenham site. Here you'll support us by developing, implementing, and maintaining our Safety Management System (SMS) and ensuring compliance with all relevant regulatory requirements.
Ontic is more than just a business; we're a community of innovators who pride ourselves on fostering a culture where talent thrives, ideas flourish, and careers are built. We're committed to excellence, driving us to continuously improve and adapt, ensuring that we remain at the forefront of our industry.
The RoleAs the Head of Regulatory Compliance, you'll have dedicated responsibility for ensuring compliance and safety management across Ontic's Part 21G and Part 145 operations. You'll lead the management and continual improvement of the Safety Management System (SMS), ensuring it is effectively implemented and maintained in accordance with UK CAA, EASA, FAA, and CAAC requirements.
You'll collaborate closely with key stakeholders, including the Quality Compliance Director (QCD), Accountable Manager, and Senior Management Team, to embed a proactive safety culture and uphold Ontic's regulatory integrity. Acting as the Nominated Person Deputy for the QCD, you'll provide expert guidance and training to operational staff and ensure that safety is a shared responsibility across the organisation.
Your responsibilities will include overseeing all aspects of SMS governance, from safety performance reporting, risk assessment, and hazard identification through to corrective actions and change management. You'll manage safety communication across all levels of the business, facilitate investigations, and lead monthly Safety Action Group meetings to review and resolve key issues.
As the subject matter expert for Civil Aviation Authority matters, you'll oversee regulatory audits, maintain compliance documentation, and ensure that Ontic's training and operational processes meet the highest standards. This includes managing technical training compliance databases and global training initiatives, while driving continuous improvement and operational excellence across all regulatory functions.
About YouAt Ontic, our culture is integral to making sure we enjoy our work and deliver for our customers. While we look for the right skillset, we're also looking for someone who will thrive within our culture of recognition, empowerment, and shared success.
You'll bring an engineering background, a strong educational foundation, and multiple Integrated Management System (IMS) qualifications, including Lead Auditor to ISO9001/AS9100 standards. You'll have expert knowledge of regulatory frameworks including Part 21G, Part 145, ISO 14001, 22301, 27001, and 45001, alongside a proven track record of leading compliance and safety management within aerospace or similarly regulated industries.
Analytical thinking and strong problem-solving skills are essential, as is the ability to communicate clearly and influence effectively at all levels. You'll have excellent knowledge of MS Office and ERP systems, with the ability to interpret complex information and make sound business decisions.
You'll also be an inspiring leader capable of developing, training, and mentoring your team, as well as comfortable managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced, global environment. Flexibility, resilience, and a willingness to travel internationally when required are key attributes for success in this role.
BenefitsAt Ontic we care about your financial, physical, and mental wellness, so we offer a range of benefits to support this. We care about what matters to you and have a valued culture of recognition and empowerment, accompanied by benefits that support work/life balance.
