The Role
Bioprocess Technical Lead will provide technical input throughout the early stages of design review and in particular bioprocess optimization, scale up and transfer strategy for recombinant protein expression at the CoE Recombinant Protein Expression and Purification. They will support the technical inputs that drive us to successful design reviews and subsequent successful scale ups with appropriate studies for the NPD roadmap using bioreactors from pilot scale to production scale of microbially/ mammalian produced recombinant proteins. The candidate will be responsible for supporting the different value streams in collaboration with strategic customers and the wider recombinant stakeholders where necessary to support delivery of overall recombinant portfolio for the business.

In This Role Your Responsibilities Will Include

• Provide SME support for the projects involving troubleshooting through design review process and complex bioprocess scale up and downstream recovery of recombinant bacteria and yeasts. Essential
• Thorough understanding on biological processes, geometric factors and mathematical models involved with scale up. Essential
• In-depth knowledge in operation and maintenance of glass and SS bioreactors at small scale and manufacturing scale (1L up to 250L). Essential
• Demonstrated experience in driving optimization of existing processes to improve efficiency, reduce costs, problem-solving pertaining scale-up of fermentation processes from lab scale to large scale.
• Proficiency in using bioprocessing software and simulation tools with ability to oversee and support within the operational area where necessary.
• Ability to advise on preparation of technology transfer documentation and technical communication of outsourcing of scale up activities to aid in OEM manufacture.
• Knowledge on recovery/ purification of proteins expression systems for enzymes, antigens and antibodies with varying degrees of complexity.

You Should Apply If

• Experienced leader with a degree in microbiology, molecular biology, biotechnology, chemical engineering (related subjects may also be acceptable)
• Master's level
• Experience in Life Science industry
• Microbiology, Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Chemical engineering
• Fermentation technologies for proteins, including antigens and enzymes
• Ability to author SOP's/ reports
• Bioprocess optimization, scale up and transfer to regular production
• Experience with different systems
• Essential: E. coli, Other bacterial species and Yeasts
• Desirable: Mammalian CHO and HEK
• Recombinant protein services
• Operation and maintenance of glass and SS bioreactors
