Salary: Equivalent to Agenda for Change Band 4 (Depending on Experience)

Main duties of the job

You will assist clinical staff across the practice in the provision of treatment, preventative care and health promotion. You will work as a member of the Nursing team, under the guidance of a Registered General Nurse, and must work at all times within your own competence and professional code of conduct as regulated by the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC).

You will play a key role in delivering high-quality patient care, with a focus on promoting health and wellbeing, monitoring long-term conditions, providing health education and preventative advice, and carrying out screening activities. Working collaboratively with the wider team, you will ensure patient needs are met while upholding the highest standards of care and supporting the implementation of policies and procedures.

Job responsibilities

  • Work as part of the Practices Multidisciplinary team to provide and monitor care, under direct or indirect supervision
  • Perform and record clinical observations such as blood pressure, temperature, respirations, and pulse
  • Provide wound care, dressings and other clinical tasks as required
  • Perform ECGs, and venepuncture, and other relevant clinical tasks as required by the practice, in line with the competencies of the role
  • With additional training take part in the routine vaccination programme using Patient Group Directives
  • Promote health and well-being to all patients, for example undertaking the NHS health check
  • Care for individuals with complex conditions such as dementia, mental health conditions, and learning disabilities
  • Advise patients on general healthcare and promote self-management where appropriate, including signposting patients to personalised care colleagues and local community and voluntary sector services
  • Communicate proactively and effectively with all colleagues across the Practice, attending and contributing to meetings as required

Qualifications

Essential

  • Registered Nursing Associate on the NMC register
  • Nursing Associate foundation degree qualification

Experience

Essential

  • Experience of working in teams under appropriate supervision as part of a multi-disciplinary team
  • Experience of providing and receiving complex, sensitive information
  • Detailed knowledge and understanding of appropriate procedures and treatment plans

Desirable

  • Experience of working in a primary care environment
