About the ICCThe Institute for Connected Communities (ICC) is engaged in research and training into the social, economic, and cultural productions of health and well-being. ICC has attracted funding from UK research councils (NIHR, ESRC, AHRC), charitable trusts, NHS, European Commission, UNICEF, and national government departments. We have major programmes of research outputs from which impact upon intervention innovation and development including social prescribing, cybercrime, and child internet safety amongst others at local, national, and international level.
About the JobMassChallenge UK (MCUK), is a new UK-based startup programme focused on Artificial Intelligence (AI), to help turn university ideas into successful companies. It will set up a clear path for talented students and staff from universities like UEL and QMUL to join the accelerator. The programme connects these new, fast-moving AI startups with major corporate partners who need new technology to solve business problems. By providing mentorship, funding, and direct industry access, MCUK aims to speed up the growth of these AI ventures, maximize their social and economic impact by tapping into diverse talent, and support the UK's goal of leading in AI development.
The MassChallenge UK (MCUK) Startup Community Coordinator will project manage the RED fund deliverables in collaboration with our partners, Queen Mary University of London (QMUL), and the MCUK team, ensuring the projects stays on track and is delivered in full. A key deliverable for the postholder is the development of a successful pipeline of university startup and spinout applicants for MCUK (starting with UEL and QMUL), supporting the universities' commitment to fostering creativity, entrepreneurship, and collaborative problem-solving. In addition, the postholder will promote the MCUK offering across other UK universities to ensure the most relevant cohorts are recruited.
The postholder will also work directly with the QUEST team at Queen Mary University of London, joining the team for approximately 1 day per week.
Key targets for this role include engaging with 40 universities by the end of year 3, contributing to the 8-10 spinouts (from these universities) per cohort for MCUK.
