We are seeking a
Contract PLC / Automation Deployment Engineer
to manage the deployment lifecycle of industrial automation projects from planning through execution. This role requires strong expertise in PLC programming, controls integration, and system commissioning to ensure safe, reliable, and cost-effective deployments. As a Deployment Engineer, you will work with internal engineering teams, integrators, and vendors to design, configure, and implement automation solutions that meet operational requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead deployment projects involving PLC and automation systems from initiation to completion, ensuring scope, timeline, and quality standards are met.
  • Deliver and validate automation solutions including PLC installation, programming, HMI configuration, and system qualification (e.g., performance, safety, and functional testing).
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex control system issues using structured problem-solving and root-cause analysis.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, equipment suppliers, and integration partners to align requirements and drive smooth execution.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline automation deployment processes, increase system reliability, and enhance maintainability.
  • Provide clear project documentation, control system specifications, and timely updates to stakeholders.
  • Mentor junior engineers and support knowledge-sharing within the automation team.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechatronics, Controls, or related field) or equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years of relevant automation, controls engineering, or PLC deployment experience.
  • Hands-on experience with PLC programming and troubleshooting (Allen-Bradley / Rockwell, Siemens, or equivalent).
  • Strong analytical and diagnostic skills with proven root-cause analysis capability.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills with the ability to influence diverse stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with large-scale industrial automation projects (e.g., PLC-controlled systems, SCADA, robotics integration, or process automation).
  • Familiarity with safety standards and regulatory requirements for automation (e.g., NFPA 79, IEC 61508, OSHA).
  • Proven ability to standardize and scale PLC solutions across multiple deployments.
  • Experience with vendor and partner management, including contracts and technical oversight.
  • Knowledge of industrial networks and communication protocols (EtherNet/IP, Profinet, Modbus, etc.).
