Your role at Clorox:

The Director of R&D for AMEA is a key member of the AMEA Leadership Team, responsible for leading the innovation strategy and execution across the region. This role drives commercialization of a robust product pipeline, ensures technical excellence, and fosters a high-performing, consumer-centric R&D culture.

In this role, you will:

  • Develop and lead the AMEA innovation strategy to deliver 2% of annual sales growth through new products.
  • Own and deploy the Discovery process to build a sustainable innovation pipeline.
  • Ensure technical rigor and compliance across manufacturing partners in multiple countries.
  • Collaborate with global R&D hubs in Pleasanton, CA USA (Cat Litter), Chicago, IL USA (Glad), Buenos Aires, Argentina (Clorox), MENA, Jeddah (Tech Transfer), Sydney Australia,  Seoul, South Korea, Durham, NC USA (Burt's Bees).
  • Partner cross-functionally with Marketing, Sales, Supply Chain, and other LT members to align innovation with business priorities.
  • Champion consumer-centric design, margin transformation, and strategic technical insights.
  • Drive adoption of modern R&D practices including Design-to-Value, 5P Superiority, Agile/Lean Development, and Portfolio/Product Data Management.
  • Lead the Clearly Superior Program and Innovation Activation Plans to ensure pipeline sufficiency and business impact.

What we look for:

Required Experience

  • 15+ years of progressive R&D leadership experience in FMCG, preferably across multiple product categories and geographies.
  • Demonstrated success in leading innovation pipelines that delivered measurable business growth.
  • Experience managing multi-site, multi-disciplinary scientific teams in a global matrixed organization.
  • Proven ability to influence senior leadership and drive cross-functional collaboration.
  • Strong background in technical commercialization, manufacturing processes, and quality systems.
  • Familiarity with consumer insights, regulatory environments, and sustainability-driven innovation.

Preferred Experience

  • BS ChemE/Mech E or equivalent Engineering;  PhD Chemistry or Material Science.
  • Prior leadership roles in Home Care, Personal Care, Packaging, Foods, or Pet Care categories.
  • Experience working with external manufacturing partners and technology transfer across regions.
  • Exposure to Discovery frameworks and stage-gate innovation processes.
