Self Employed Courier/Delivery Driver

Job Summary
We are seeking reliable and professional Self-employed Couriers/ Delivery Drivers to join our team. The Courier/Driver will be responsible for delivering goods efficiently and safely to various locations, ensuring timely service and excellent customer satisfaction. This role requires a valid driver's licence, Hire & Reward (courier) insurance and previous experience in delivery or commercial driving. The ideal applicant will possess strong communication skills, a friendly demeanor and the ability to navigate Glasgow's streets quickly and efficiently, as we don't provide Sat-Nav to our drivers.
Duties
- Safely operate vehicles, including vans and lorries, to deliver parcels and goods across designated routes
- Plan delivery routes to optimise efficiency and timeliness
- Load and unload items, often involving heavy lifting, ensuring items are secured during transit
- Maintain accurate delivery records and obtain signatures or proof of delivery from recipients
- Communicate with dispatchers and customers regarding delivery schedules or issues
- Conduct routine vehicle inspections to ensure safety standards are met and report any maintenance needs
- Adhere strictly to traffic laws and company policies during all driving activities
Skills
- Proven experience as a delivery driver or in commercial driving roles
- Valid driver's licence with a clean driving record
- Strong driving skills with knowledge of local routes and traffic regulations
- Experience with logistics is advantageous
- Physical strength for heavy lifting and manual handling of parcels
- Excellent organisational skills for route planning and time management
- Excellent communication skills to liaise with customers and team members
- Ability to work independently, demonstrating reliability and professionalism at all times
SALARY
- Driver receives £3.30 for each delivery completed
Job Types: Freelance, Zero hours contract
Pay: £10.00-£20.00 per hour
Expected hours: 1 – 50 per week
