Job Description

Design at The Stepstone Group

Find the right job for everyone.

That's our mission — and it's also the lens through which design drives impact across Stepstone. Design has been embedded in our DNA for over a decade, and today our product design organisation is more ambitious, focused, and mature than ever.

We are a team of 40+ extraordinary individuals across Product Design, User Research, Content Design, Design Systems, Design Operations, and Foundations — united by a belief that great experiences are intentional, human, and deeply crafted.

Design is represented at every level of leadership — which means you'll be supported not just in execution, but in driving strategy, shaping direction, and challenging the status quo across the business.

Our work spans the entire ecosystem — across both B2C and B2B — helping candidates find the right role and enabling recruiters to find the right talent. It's a full-spectrum design organisation, where your decisions ripple across real human journeys, not just screens.

The Role

We're looking for a Product Designer with the vision, craft, and conviction to redefine how millions of people connect to work.

Whether you join us as a Mid, Senior, or Lead Designer, you'll have the autonomy to make real impact. At Stepstone, design isn't decoration — it's a strategic force that shapes outcomes for users, customers, and the business.

You'll work side-by-side with Product, Engineering, and Research partners to identify the highest-leverage opportunities and turn them into meaningful, measurable outcomes.

Here, you won't just improve flows — you'll rethink how people find jobs, how recruiters find talent, and how great design can make complexity feel simple.

You'll be expected to:

  • Set a high bar for quality — and push yourself (and others) to raise it
  • Challenge assumptions — including your own
  • Tell the story — and bring others with you
  • Design extraordinary experiences that move the needle for both users and the business

What You'll Do

You'll report into a Product Design Manager and work alongside deeply experienced product, engineering, and research partners. The scope of your responsibilities will flex depending on your level — but across the board, you'll:

  • Design simple, intuitive, and human-centered experiences that solve real problems with clarity, creativity, and care.
  • Prototype boldly. Great prototypes move mountains. They align leaders, steer strategy, and collapse years of discussion into conviction. At Stepstone, we don't just build prototypes — we use them to decide what the future should look like.
  • Shape impact in partnership with Product — helping define priorities, owning outcomes, and holding yourself accountable to team success metrics.
  • Elevate the quality of what we ship — through craft, systems thinking, and clear product narratives.
  • Contribute to strategic direction — connecting user insight to business goals, and turning ambiguity into focus.
  • Mentor and support peers — from sharing thoughtful critique to raising standards across the org (especially at Senior+ levels).
Qualifications

What We're Looking For

We know job descriptions can feel like checklists, and we don't expect perfection. If you see yourself in many of these, we'd love to hear from you:

  • You've shipped real products with measurable user and business impact — ideally across consumer, enterprise, or multi-sided ecosystems.
  • You hold a high standard of craft — connecting insight to execution, and sweating the details that turn good into unforgettable.
  • You're a strong storyteller — able to align stakeholders, inspire teams, and make complex ideas simple through narrative.
  • You wield prototyping as a core skill — using it to explore, align, and sell the future faster than anyone else.
  • You've worked with design systems — contributing to consistency while pushing patterns and components forward.
  • You understand that great design isn't just about what it looks like, but what we choose to build, what we choose not to, and why.

At Stepstone, design is how millions of people find work and how businesses hire the right talent. We're building one of the most ambitious design orgs in Europe — where every detail matters, where prototypes move mountains, and where design is inseparable from strategy.

We don't just raise the bar — we set it. We tell the story, we make the complex simple, and we use design to shape the future of hiring.

If you want to design with impact at this scale — and thrive in a culture that demands craft, conviction, and ambition — this is where you belong.
