Lead - Test Design Engineer

As the
Test Design Engineering Lead
, you will play a key role in defining and driving test strategies across complex engineering programmes. You'll lead the development of end-to-end test solutions — from concept and design through to validation and production — ensuring that product testability is considered at every stage of development.

Working closely with cross-functional design, manufacturing, and systems teams, you'll ensure full test coverage, manage compliance with test requirements, and influence key design decisions that impact performance, cost, and reliability.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leading a team of test engineers within a multi-disciplinary design environment
  • Providing functional leadership and supporting department-level strategic goals
  • Owning the specification and delivery of test systems and equipment
  • Ensuring that product designs incorporate robust testability features
  • Developing and managing detailed test requirements, including access, built-in test (BIT) coverage, and production testing functionality
  • Performing analysis and modelling to determine test coverage and generate diagnostic documentation
  • Collaborating with engineering leadership to balance cost, schedule, and test coverage trade-offs

About you:

  • Strong background in test equipment design, product testability, or electrical/electronic engineering
  • Proficiency in one or more of the following: digital electronics, microprocessor systems, analogue electronics, test design, or electronics testing
  • Proven leadership and mentoring experience, with the ability to influence at multiple levels
  • Experience in requirements definition, project oversight, and managing stakeholder relationships
  • Excellent communication skills and a proactive, analytical mindset.

This role offers hybrid working, with an estimated 2-3 days onsite each week.

With this role being in the defence industry, all candidates will go through a security vetting process. Please note, only UK citizens can be considered for this role (both sole Uk citizens and those with Dual Citizenship).
