IPS are a Milton Keynes based supplier to the live events industry. We work in three main areas: Staging & Structures, Technical Production, and Trade Equipment Hire.
We have a massive inventory of industry standard Staging, Rigging, Lighting, Video, Audio & Power equipment, a team of experienced technicians, and a fleet of dedicated delivery vehicles.
Services available include the supply of Stages and Platforms for indoor and outdoor use, the Dry Hire of individual items of equipment, through to a complete Technical Production Service.
IPS are looking for a motivated and hands-on Live Events - Junior Assets and Repairs Technician to join our team.
This hands-on role is key to ensuring our Assets departmentruns smoothly. You'll work closely with our Senior Repair Technician and Assets Manager to ensure all our equipment is maintained to the highest standard, correctly Identified and ready for operational use.
You'll support all areas of event production, including staging, lighting, rigging, video, and sound assisting with fault diagnosis carrying out simple repairs and contributing to manufacturing and assembly work where required.
Responsibilities
- Assist with fault diagnosis and basic repairs on a wide range of equipment.
- Work with the Senior Repair Technician to learn and apply correct testing and repair procedures.
- Carry out cleaning, repairs, inspection, and function testing of faulty equipment before it is returned to stock for hire.
- Support the manufacturing or modification of simple components or assemblies as required.
- Apply and maintain asset labels, barcodes, and identification markers on equipment.
- Operate in-house laser engraving equipment to apply asset details and company identification.
- Record all repairs, test results, and updates accurately in the asset tracking software.
- Assist in keeping the workshop organised, safe, and well stocked with tools and consumables.
- Maintain accurate equipment records
- Support stock checks, asset management, and data accuracy.
- Follow company health and safety policies at all times and report any issues or hazards.
- Undertake other reasonable workshop or asset-related duties as directed by the Asset Manager.

We're looking for someone who is organised, technically minded, and service focused— with a can-do attitude and strong attention to detail.
Essential Skills
- A practical, hands-on approach with a strong interest in electrical, mechanical, or electronic equipment and a keen interest in live events, music, or production.
- Basic understanding of tools, components, and repair techniques.
- Strong organisational skills with attention to detail and time management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Confident IT user – especially Microsoft 365 (Excel, SharePoint, Forms).
- Able to work independently and under pressure to deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Flexible with working hours – early starts, late finishes, and some weekends may be required.
- Physically fit and competent with manual handling.
- Professional, reliable, and approachable with a positive attitude.
- Must be flexible occasional weekend and additional hours may be required during busy periods.
Desirable Skills (Not Essential)
- Experience using asset management or rental software (such as HireTrack).
- Experience in basic electrical or electronic fault-finding.
- Familiarity with live event, lighting and audio-visual equipment.
- Knowledge of PAT testing or electrical safety procedures.
- Experience using laser engraving, labelling, or marking equipment.
- Basic fabrication, wiring, or soldering skills.
