Key Responsibilities in Immigration Law – Paralegal Role
  • Manage and progress a caseload of immigration matters, including but not limited to visa applications, sponsor licence matters, nationality applications, corporate immigration.
  • Draft, review, and submit legal correspondence, forms, statements, and associated documentation to the Home Office and relevant authorities, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and adherence to current immigration legislation and policy.
  • Conduct legal research on evolving immigration law and policy, providing updates and concise reports to the team as necessary.
  • Liaise sensitively and professionally with clients from a range of backgrounds, providing clear updates, gathering required information, and ensuring exceptional client care at all stages of the process.
  • Assist fee earners and solicitors in preparing for client meetings, interviews, and tribunal hearings as required.
  • Maintain comprehensive and accurate case management records, utilising case management systems and complying with GDPR, SRA, and firm regulations.
  • Support and foster collaborative working within the immigration team, sharing knowledge and best practice to support excellent legal outcomes.
Essential Skills, Experience, and Knowledge for an Immigration Paralegal
  • Demonstrable experience handling a range of private and/or corporate immigration matters as a paralegal within a law firm or relevant legal environment.
  • Solid working knowledge of UK immigration law, Home Office policy, and compliance requirements.
  • Excellent organisational skills – able to work independently to progress multiple files and meet strict deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to advise and support clients clearly and empathetically.
  • High attention to detail, strong drafting skills, and a proactive, solutions-focused approach.
  • Competence using legal case management software and standard office IT applications.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a diverse team and willingness to engage in ongoing professional development.
Preferred Qualifications and Additional Experience
  • Law degree, LPC, or previous paralegal/immigration experience in a reputable firm highly desirable.
  • Experience assisting with sponsor licence applications and corporate immigration matters is a distinct advantage.
  • Multi-lingual abilities are welcomed, though not required.
  • Familiarity with remote working, case management systems, and modern legal processes advantageous.
