Overview
We are seeking a reliable, proactive, and detail-focused Housekeeper/General Assistant to join our dedicated estate team. The role involves maintaining exceptionally high standards across a collection of luxury holiday cottages, working in the estate shop, shooting lodge and supporting wider estate operations as needed. Due to the rural location of the estate, own transport is essential.
Key Responsibilities
Housekeeping & Presentation
- Carry out high-quality cleaning of holiday cottages, including bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchens and living areas.
- Change and launder bed linens, towels, and soft furnishings to the highest standard.
- Cleaning and relaying of fires. Refilling log baskets.
- Restock guest amenities, ensuring all cottages are fully prepared for arrivals.
- Conduct pre-arrival and departure checks to ensure the cottages meet 5-star presentation standards.
- Report any maintenance issues promptly to the estate management team.
- Ensure storage areas, housekeeping facilities, and laundry spaces remain clean, tidy, and well-organised.
Guest Support & Service
- Provide warm, professional assistance to guests when required.
- Work in the estate shop at least one day per week, providing friendly, professional service.
- Respond to occasional guest queries or requests in a courteous and efficient manner.
General Estate Assistance
- Support wider estate operations as directed, such as:
- Light gardening or outdoor tidying
- Assisting with events or functions on the estate
- Shopping for supplies or collecting deliveries
- Helping with seasonal tasks and occasional projects
- Work collaboratively with the estate team to maintain a high-quality and welcoming environment across all properties.
Skills, Experience & Attributes
- Previous housekeeping experience within hospitality, luxury accommodation, or private households preferred.
- Excellent attention to detail and pride in maintaining high standards.
- Ability to manage time effectively and work independently.
- Good communication skills and a friendly, guest-focused approach.
- Discretion, reliability, and a strong work ethic.
- Physical fitness suitable for a role involving regular lifting, bending, and walking.
- Own transport essential due to rural estate location.
- Flexibility to work some weekends during autumn/winter as required.
