London, Greater London, United Kingdom Marks and Spencer Full time £45,000 - £55,000 per year

All the details
Summary
M&S's Business Involvement Group (BIG) is a network of 1500 nominated colleagues across our stores, support centres and logistics centres who represent the voice of our colleagues. As well as supporting our teams with day-to-day questions and support, our BIG reps are also involved in business change discussions by feeding back to leaders on what matters most to our teams.

In this role, you'll design and implement internal communication strategies that inform and engage our BIG reps, boost colleague engagement, and promote the important role of BIG across M&S.

(
This is not an elected representative role; it is not part of the National Leadership Team and has no involvement in formal consultation)

To stay close to customers, our support teams are in the office three days a week as we believe that skills are developed through collaboration, and that spending time together makes us more creative and connected.

What You'll Do
Your key accountabilities will include

  • Develop creative and dynamic communication content and channel strategies for all of the BIG audiences that inspire our representatives and provide the information they need to better support their teams
  • Source, write and deliver a regular plan of content that shows how BIG is contributing to making M&S a great place to work and a great place to shop. Use this content to regularly update and refresh the BIG portal and be responsible for the site's 'look and feel'.
  • Partner closely with our Colleague Communications team to ensure BIG's stories and messages reach our 65,000+ colleagues via channels including company-wide announcements, newsletters, intranet content, and town halls
  • In conjunction with the Corporate Affairs content and channels team, look for opportunities to share news externally via channels such as LinkedIn to show BIG as a great industry example of colleague involvement
  • In collaboration with the NBIG Deputy Chair, review the bi-weekly Talking Points and identify any themes or trends that need to be addressed through targeted communications. Also create and tailor briefing packs and presentation material for multiple audiences, up to and including the CEO, ExCO and other senior leaders.

Who You Are
Your skills and experience will include

  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to translate complex information into clear and concise messaging.
  • Experienced in developing and implementing internal communication strategies, plans, and programmes.
  • Experience in employee engagement and event planning.
  • Strong project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines.
  • Familiarity with various internal communication channels, such as email, intranet, social media and the core Microsoft platforms of SharePoint, Teams, Workjam and CommUnity.  Experience of capturing and editing video and imagery appreciated
