We're now recruiting a Higher Apprentice Quantity Surveyor an exciting opportunity for someone looking to build a career in quantity surveying within the energy infrastructure sector.

In this role, you'll:

Support the delivery of innovative construction projects, including first-of-a-kind Offshore Hybrid Assets and upgrades to our existing Interconnector fleet.

Provide commercial and contractual guidance to project teams, helping ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget.

Work closely with the Contract Team Manager across all commercial and contractual activities.

Gain exposure to other disciplines such as engineering, project management, land acquisition, consents, and planning.

Support tendering procurement activities associated with the projects.

Support colleagues with the drafting of contracts, quality assurance of contracts, including maintaining accurate contractor data records, providing commercial and contract management support.

Support contract compliance, monitoring of spend against agreed budgets and other metrics

Helping your project team develop and maintain cost forecasts.

Produce contract forms such as assessments and valuations.

Administer contractual changes and monitor contractual performance, ensuring contractor and client-side obligations are understood and complied with.

Location

This role is primarily based at our Sellindge Interconnector site in Ashford, Kent, with a minimum on-site presence of two days per week. You will also be expected to travel to other locations, including additional interconnector sites, training venues, and our head office in Warwick. This will involve frequent overnight stays away from home.

The Contracts team operates across multiple locations, so applicants should ideally be based within commutable distance of Ashford, Warwick, or London. However, regular travel to Ashford will be a key requirement of the role.

About You

The requirements for this role are as follows:

  • Have or be predicted to achieve two A-Levels at grade C or above including Maths, Physics, Engineering, Finance, OR BTEC National Certificate OR Diploma Level 3 in Electrical, Mechanical, Civil Engineering or Quantity Surveying, (essential the Maths modules should be at Merit or Distinction) gaining Merit or Distinction overall.
  • You should have achived five GCSEs at grade 4/C or higher including Maths and English Language or equivalent.
  • You must already have a full valid UK driving license 3 months before starting.
  • You will be flexible to travel when required, this includes frequent overnight stays away from home in pre-booked accommodation.
  • Be based at Sellindge (Ashford), Kent, with occasional travel to other Interconnector sites.
  • Committed to attend training across the UK including at National Grids training centre in Eakring.
  • Have the ability to work to challenging deadlines, strong analytical skills and decision making
  • A self-starter with excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
