About Bearslake Inn:

We are looking for a passionate, reliable and hard-working Chef de Partie to join our kitchen team here at Bearslake Inn, a beautiful 13th-century thatched gastro pub with rooms nestled between Tavistock and Okehampton.

Our food is fresh, seasonal and rooted in classic British pub traditions with a modern twist. You'll be working in a supportive, well-structured kitchen alongside a Head Chef who values creativity, consistency and teamwork.

The Role:

We are seeking an enthusiastic and skilled Chef de Partie to join our talented kitchen team as we expand our kitchen operations. With exciting plans for the year ahead, including new menus and innovative dining experiences, this is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a growing team and play a key role in shaping the future of Bearslake Inn.

As CDP, you will take ownership of your section, preparing high-quality dishes that showcase the best seasonal and local ingredients. This is a fantastic opportunity for a chef who thrives in a dynamic, fast-paced kitchen and wants to grow their skills within a supportive team.

What You'll Do:

  • Manage and run your section during service, ensuring food quality, portioning, and presentation meet our high standards.
  • Prepare and cook dishes using fresh, locally sourced ingredients.
  • Assist with the development of seasonal menus and daily specials.
  • Support junior kitchen staff and work collaboratively with the team to maintain a smooth kitchen operation.
  • Ensure your section is fully prepped, clean, and organized for service.
  • Adhere to food hygiene and safety standards at all times.
  • Take an active role in stock rotation and minimising food waste.
  • Contribute creative ideas for menu development and promotions.

What We're Looking For:

  • Proven experience as a Chef de Partie or in a similar role in a high-quality restaurant or gastro-pub.
  • Passion for cooking with fresh, seasonal, and locally sourced ingredients.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to work efficiently under pressure.
  • A proactive, positive attitude and a team-focused approach.
  • Good knowledge of food hygiene and safety practices (training will be provided if necessary).
  • Culinary qualifications or equivalent experience are advantageous but not essential.
