About this Role

Work where it matters most, achieve what matters more.

Be part of a team where passion meets purpose, as we work together where the challenge is greatest to change the lives and build the futures of children and young people.

We are currently seeking an experienced and inspiring Middle Leader to lead and develop high-quality autism provision across Ormiston Kensington Queensmill Academy's expanding satellite sites.

This is an exciting opportunity for a committed and knowledgeable practitioner to play a key role in shaping specialist education across multiple settings. Initially, the post will be split between our main school site and our Avondale satellite, supporting teaching and learning, staff development, and safeguarding. As we open our new Oxford Gardens satellite, the successful candidate will take a lead role in its setup, ensuring a smooth and successful launch.

Over time, the post-holder will oversee both satellite sites, as well as any further expansion of OKQA satellite provisions, ensuring consistency, quality, and safeguarding compliance across the provisions. This role also carries designated safeguarding responsibilities, working closely with the Head of School and Deputy DSL team to uphold the highest standards of pupil safety and wellbeing.

We are looking for a passionate, resilient, and reflective leader who is deeply committed to improving outcomes for autistic children and young people. The successful candidate will:

  • Hold QTS and a relevant degree.
  • Have proven experience in EYFS or Primary teaching, ideally within a special or autism-specific setting.
  • Demonstrate strong leadership skills and the ability to support and inspire others.
  • Have advanced understanding of autism and experience implementing specialist approaches such as TEACCH, SCERTS, PECS, or Sensory Integration.
  • Be confident in safeguarding practice, ideally with DSL training or experience managing safeguarding cases.
  • Work effectively with pupils, families, and professionals to create inclusive, supportive learning environments.
  • Be flexible, empathetic, and creative, with the ability to manage multiple priorities across sites.

Ormiston Kensington Queensmill Academy caters for children and young people with autism and other specific learning difficulties.

We are extremely fortunate to be based in purpose-built facilities designed to deliver a spacious, low-arousal learning environment with excellent autism-specific facilities and resources, allowing us to manage our young people's needs effectively. Our curriculum is highly differentiated and focuses on delivering a wide range of experiences, with an emphasis on improving the mental health and wellbeing of our young people.

We have an enthusiastic, dedicated, and highly trained professional team committed to providing the highest standard of holistic education for all our young people. We have created a supportive, friendly, and nurturing environment that enables all young people to feel safe and well looked after.

Ormiston Kensington Queensmill Academy is a fun place to work and happiness and wellbeing is an absolute priority for both our young people and staff team. We are looking to appoint people that are interested in Autism and passionate about supporting autistic pupils to access education both within the school and in the local community.
