We have an exciting opportunity for an Electrical Engineer to join our infrastructure team based at Southampton Port. In this role you will ensure availability of uninterrupted power to Southampton Port and ensure appropriate power solutions are planned and constructed to meet the current and future demands.About the roleTo ensure electrical infrastructure of the port are planned and installed to times, capacity and standards necessary for the operation and expansion of container port.Prepare and implement strategy to maintain the electrical infrastructure of portManagement and supervision of consultants, contractors and engineers required to construct, maintain and switch electrical infrastructure of port.Assume the responsibility of Senior Authorised Person for Southampton . This position entails providing support during out of office hours in case of emergencies outages and scheduled maintenance shut downs.Ensure contracts are in place to call third party support in order to recover network from unexpected shutdown.Ensure proficient working of SCADA and BMS in order to monitor electricity consumption of buildings, terminal lighting and equipment.Implementation of a metering strategy in order to record network losses and consumption of tenants and internal cost centres.Ensure 100% availability and reliability of Electrical supply to the portDevelop skills and knowledge to manage or complete day to day switching and resolve electrical issues at the port.To ensure electrical work shall only be undertaken by personnel that are authorised and competent to carry out their duties.To undertake training of personnel and assessment of competencyPlan timely maintenance of Electrical infrastructure while considering the operational and statuary requirements.Ensure that DPWS's Electrical Safe Systems of Works is updated to latest standards and regulatory requirements.Ensure compliance to Safe Systems of Works and that all documentation is kept in order.Maintenance of electrical equipment, systems, any associated drawings and the keeping of records.Ensure that all new electrical equipment and systems are designed, constructed, and installed to be fit for purpose and can be used, operated, and maintained without danger.Manage a variety of electrical infrastructure construction or maintenance contracts to time, budget and the quality expectedYour Key Skills:HND or Degree in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent experience considered)Demonstratable experience of LV and HV network (>11kV) switching.Demonstratable experience with HV cable jointing and terminatingIn depth knowledge and experience of maintaining and/or managing HV networks. 18th Edition IET Wiring Regulations is BS 7671:2018 A2:2022Demonstrable experience of proactive problem solving and innovation, driving operational efficiency and excellence.Good understanding and experience of businesses requiring 24/7 support.CompensationDP World offers exciting and challenging roles within a growing international organization.
