The role

We're looking for a proactive and detail-oriented individual to join our Legal department. As a Legal Secretary, you'll carry out a variety of clerical, record-keeping, and word processing tasks that support the team's daily operations. Your contribution will play a key part in helping us meet the objectives outlined in our policing plan and service level agreements.

What you'll do

  • Produce high-quality documents using word processing software, including transcription from audio, ensuring accurate text, tables, and effective file management.
  • Design new document formats, create basic spreadsheets, and input data into various systems to support information management and statistical reporting.
  • Perform a variety of clerical tasks to assist with the smooth running of the Legal department.
  • Handle personal and telephone enquiries professionally, ensuring excellent customer service and appropriate referral to relevant staff.
  • Provide word processing and clerical support across different sections of the Legal department as required.
  • Maintain diary systems to support departmental staff and ensure court dates and other critical deadlines are met.

Terms of appointment

This is a permanent role subject to a six-month probationary period.
