Main Function of the role:

Following the acquisition of Hermes Investments by Federated in 2018, strategic initiatives to harmonise processes and practices are a strong element of the global change agenda. This role will provide Investment Operations BAU and change management support within a programme of work designed to reinforce firm wide integration, create opportunities for commercial growth, and deliver operational efficiency improvements across the US and UK. Phase one of harmonisation is adoption of consistent Trading Order Management System (OMS) and Federated Hermes Limited (FHL) will be moving from the current OMS to new Equity and Fixed income OMS platforms consistent with the US office, creating a harmonised global model.

A key component is to establish an interim TMP Trade Management Provider model. This will serve to support the core middle office functions specific to transaction management. The interim structure will introduce a newly defined Global Model. This role sits within the Investment Operations – Middle Office team reporting to the Head of Transaction Control and Oversight. As a Middle Office Oversight and control Manager you will have a varied role supporting the new OMS and supporting systems with a broad view across all Front Office and Operations functions. This will also entail being the main escalation point to help manage the new tri-party outsource model.

Time will be split between picking up the new BAU processes and managing the tri-party outsource relationship:


• Money Market BNY TA flow


• Third Party management and engagement (Custodians, Brokers, Fund Accountants, TA's)


• Transparency look through for EMIR reporting of in scope instruments


• Bank Loans, lack of end-to-end service


• Inventory Management (e.g. SSI's, Standing instructions, Fund lists)


• Tri-party resolution and management of NT and BNY

Key task and responsibilities:

Responsible for the management of end-to-end Middle Office services for Money Market BNY TA flow


• New Set up request


• Order booking


• Position keeping


• Reconciliation


• Ensure delivery of service is line with agreed SLA


• Transparency look through for EMIR reporting for in scope instruments


• Inventory management along with Third party management and engagement


• Build influential relationship with internal clients within Investment Teams and other key stakeholders


• Input into relevant KPI's and MI reporting


• Support the progression of development and change management for Middle Office


• Manage middle office tasks and team members to meet BAU responsibilities


• Represent FHI on internal and external calls with clients and external partners


• Ensure compliance with industry and internal policies, procedures and support prompt escalation of all relevant issues / incidents


• Provide support for the design and delivery of the strategic target operating model for the global trade matching, confirmation, and messaging services maintaining a broad view across all Front Office and Operations functions.


• Supporting the Team to maintain programme momentum and sustain a strong level of support for the successful delivery of day-to-day operational service.

Minimum experience required:


• Deep knowledge and experience of the Equity, Fixed Income and cash processing in institutional and pooled funds environment


• Experience of query management in fast paced environment


• Experience of managing outsourced service provision


• Worked with NT and or BNY as middle office service providers

Experienced Required:


• Degree educated (or equivalent), professional qualification desirable


• Knowledge of offshore fund administration


• Charles River and Bloomberg Aim knowledge


• Transition experience
