About the team

As part of our Pricing team embedded within the Crisis Management division, you'll be working on some of the most intriguing and high-impact risks in the insurance world. You'll partner with underwriters across Terrorism, Kidnap & Ransom, Product Recall, Personal Accident, and Fine Art. These are not everyday risks; they are complex, dynamic, and often headline-making.

The Crisis Management division is global with teams based across London, Guernsey and the US, and incorporates business formerly written through our Special Risks business unit. Across the division, we manage around $350m of Gross Written Premium with ambitions to grow to $500m in the next 5 years. Our distribution is as diverse as our risks: we write business through external brokers and multiple Hiscox-owned channels, including a Lloyd's syndicate, company platform, MGA, broker, and sales agency. This variety gives us flexibility and reach across markets worldwide.

The Pricing team is at the core of the Crisis Management division. We combine technical expertise with commercial insight to deliver innovative pricing solutions that drive business success. The role

We are looking for an ambitious, innovative individual who is eager to learn. We want an individual who can develop a high level of technical expertise and communicate effectively to a wide range of stakeholders. You will need to confidently make sound business decisions and be able to back these up with relevant facts and figures. You will need to find solutions to problems where there isn't an established approach, think on your feet, influence other decision makers and collaborate across multiple teams. You should also be inquisitive, eager to learn and passionate about making a difference and adding value to the team.

What you'll be doing as a Pricing Analyst in the Crisis Management team:

• Building, owning, updating and liaising with underwriters on pricing models in alignment with Lloyd's and industry best practice
• Deliver portfolio analysis and performance metrics to help underwriters understand profitability and identify opportunities to improve the book
• Providing high quality pricing analysis to help assess the expected profitability of large renewal accounts and new opportunities
• Using new techniques and technologies to help us get the most from our data and wider data sources
• Collaborating with wider teams including Finance, Reserving, Exposure Management, and Reinsurance to inform underwriting decisions and understand P&L drivers.
• Clearly and concisely communicating complex issues to a wide variety of stakeholders

Our must-haves:

• Educated to degree level with numerate emphasis
• Innovative, entrepreneurial and have great problem-solving ability
• Excellent communicator to a wide range of audiences (both technical and non-technical)
• Strong Excel skills
• Be curious about the subject matter

Our nice-to-haves:

• Knowledge of other data analysis software (R/SQL/VBA/Python)
• Studying/willingness to study towards actuarial exams
• Experience in insurance or other financial services
