Head of SRE – Tech for Good – AWS, Kubernetes, Terraform, CI/CD, Monitoring

Oliver Bernard are currently working with a Tech for Good company, based in London, looking to hire an experienced Head of SRE as part of plans to scale and transform their SRE practices across the business.

The incoming profile will be responsible for driving strategy, setting up SRE best practices, and driving & scaling Change and Incident Management processes across their Platform and Tech teams. With the strategy focus at the forefront of the role, the incoming Head of SRE will also need to come from an engineering / hands-on background, with knowledge on Cloud, Container, IaC and Monitoring technologies, whilst leading a small team of 5-10 engineers - coaching and mentoring them on best practices as the team embark on an SRE transformation.

Heading up the function will mean being part of the decision making for the broader function, working closely with the other tech teams in a cross-functional manner to improve the roadmap for the business as a whole, so prior experience working with teams of Developers, DevOps Engineers etc, is also required.

To be considered for this opening, the following experience is required:

  • Ability to drive and scale SRE strategies / roadmaps
  • Managing, mentoring and coaching a team of SREs
  • Strong stakeholder management skills (from both internal and external perspectives)
  • Prior experience setting up SRE processes from scratch
  • History of building out Change and Incident Management processes
  • Capable working 'at scale' on rapid, large-scale systems and platforms
  • Prior Engineering background covering AWS, Kubernetes, Terraform, CI/CD, Monitoring etc

This position is only open to people at 'Head of' level, operates a remote first model (with monthly visits) and is able to offer £110-130K on the salary, plus benefits (dependant on experience).
