Due to our rapid growth at Transmission & Distribution Ltd, we're looking to build a UK-wide expressions of interest talent pool for both new and experienced site based Overhead Lines (OHL) Transmission General Foremen to join the Wood T&D entity, overseeing multi-disciplinary teams on overhead line transmission projects. You will ensure the delivery of high-quality construction supervision, uphold safety standards without compromising staff or environmental integrity, and coordinate efforts among Foremen, Linesmen, Support Staff, and sub-contractors while liaising effectively with clients and third parties to meet company goals and schedules. This opportunity is a site-based position, we have works issued under various OHL frameworks which mean the position is UK wide. You will need to be flexible in your work location as you will be away from home for periods of time and will travel and work across the UK.

The Role
You will report to the Construction and Project Managers to ensure high-quality supervision, uphold safety standards, coordinate with Foremen, Linesmen, Support Staff, and subcontractors, and effectively liaise with clients and third parties, all while adhering to company policies and managing project delivery.

Typical responsibilities
- Implement all applicable company/project policies, working practices, and procedures to ensure work scope is completed safely and to a high standard
- Complete work scope according to work pack instructions, procedures, and drawings/sketches, ensuring the workforce is fully briefed and understands requirements
- Support other trades/disciplines or form part of an integrated multi-discipline team
- Raise applicable Permit to Work (PTW) requests to complete work scope in a controlled and safe manner
- Undertake appropriate Risk Assessments (RA) to complete Daily Activity Safe Start (DASS) and work scope safely, ensuring RAMS are communicated to and complied with by the workforce
- Complete probationary evaluations and assessments per the competency assurance system
- Complete allocation sheets and records of work undertaken as per supervisory instructions
- Safely set to work project activities following Beyond Zero principles—zero harm to people, plant, and the environment
- Manage job and task delivery, reporting to the Site Manager
- Review and prepare project documents (e.g., Toolbox Talks, RAMS, Daily Allocation Sheets, Work Packs)
- Assist in implementing the Project Assurance Plan and the Inspection and Test Plan
- Actively participate in daily project activities, attending internal and client meetings
- Ensure project activities adhere to current legislation and regulations (e.g., CDM, PED, site license requirements)
- Inspect work faces to ensure work is undertaken as planned and within specifications
- Undertake site visits and informal SHE inspections, intervening when standards are not met
- Take accountability for the gang's actions and outputs
- Ensure accurate time and attendance records for the gang and conduct return-to-work interviews as needed
- Work within established company policies and procedures
- Coordinate/liaise development and construction activities with third parties (e.g., Local Councils, Highway Authorities, Environment Agencies, Network Rail, DNO, BT)
- Comply with and contribute to the effective implementation of Wood policies (Health and Safety, Quality, Environmental, Ethical Code of Conduct, Drug & Alcohol)

Expected:
- Previous site supervision of Overhead Line contracts for refurbishment and new build operations from engineering, construction, or utilities background
- Demonstrable experience of leading and supervising wiring/erecting gangs, including work allocation, performance, recruitment, and formal procedures
- Proven experience of supervising technical aspects of line construction, including civil teams and subcontractors (access & accommodation works, traffic management, scaffolds, metal access roads, yard set-up, welfare facilities, tower erection & assembly, re-conductoring & refurbishment for all voltages & overhead configurations)
- Demonstrated management of subcontractors and recording measurement details for financial settlement
- Familiarity with Health and Safety and Quality policies -
