We teach in small groups with a dedicated and experienced teaching team, ensuring that each student receives individual attention and care. We create individual learning packages to support our students' needs.

Main Duties

  • Plan and deliver engaging music lessons across KS3–5, including GCSE and RSL Music Practitioners courses.
  • Teach performance, composition, and music technology, using Logic Pro and a range of instruments and recording equipment.
  • Inspire students through confident performance, leading ensembles, demonstrations, and practical workshops.
  • Assess, track, and report on student progress, maintaining accurate records and setting clear learning objectives.
  • Contribute to extracurricular activities such as concerts, music clubs, and community performances.
  • Collaborate with colleagues within the department and across schools in the In Toto Ed Group.
  • Maintain and organise music resources, ensuring safe and effective use of instruments and technology.
  • Participate in departmental development, curriculum planning, and professional learning.
  • Support whole-school responsibilities, including tutoring, supervision, safeguarding, and performance management processes.

About You

Essential:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
  • Strong subject knowledge in Music with excellent classroom management and the ability to motivate students of all abilities.
  • Skilled in music performance, composition, and technology (including Logic Pro).
  • Effective communication, organisational, and time-management skills.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and child protection, including completion of mandatory training and willingness to submit an Enhanced DBS check.
  • Creative, enthusiastic, and dedicated to supporting student progress and inclusion.

Desirable:

  • Degree in Music or a related field.
  • Experience teaching AQA GCSE Music and RSL Level 2/3 Music Practitioners.
  • Confident performer with experience leading ensembles, bands, or extracurricular activities.
  • Proficient in music production, recording, and sound engineering.
  • Innovative and collaborative, with a passion for creative arts education and curriculum development.
