Overview
We are currently seeking a skilled and reliable Self-Employed Fire Risk Assessor to support our team on a flexible, contract basis. In this role, you will carry out detailed fire risk assessments across a range of residential and commercial properties, ensuring compliance with current legislation and best practices.
You will be expected to work independently, managing your own schedule while delivering high-quality assessments and reports to our clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive fire risk assessments (Types 1, 2, and 3 essential; Type 4 desirable).
- Identify potential fire hazards and evaluate the adequacy of existing fire safety measures.
- Compile detailed written reports including findings, recommendations, and prioritised action plans.
- Work directly with clients to develop practical, site-specific fire safety strategies.
- Advise on fire safety system design and implementation where required.
- Stay informed on changes in fire safety legislation and industry standards.
- Maintain accurate records of assessments and client communications.
Requirements
- Must be registered on the Fire Risk Assessment Database.
- Proven experience in completing Fire Risk Assessments, particularly Types 1–3.
- Strong working knowledge of current fire safety regulations and guidance (e.g., Fire Safety Order, PAS 79).
- Experience in compiling Fire Strategy Plans is essential.
- Relevant qualifications and/or professional certifications in fire safety (e.g., NEBOSH Fire, IFE).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage own workload, meet deadlines, and work independently.
- Must have access to own transport and hold a full UK driving licence.
