ICAP, part of TP ICAP group, provides a wide variety of execution and information services to wholesale market participants.

We offer broking services covering a wide range of asset classes, including Commodities, Credit, Equities, FX, Money Market Funds and Rates.

For each asset class, ICAP offers e-trading capability, giving clients the option to enter prices and execute trades directly via one of our hybrid electronic trading systems, or to engage with brokers who can identify and negotiate trades

Role Overview

This is an entry level opportunity on the ICAP Sterling MIRS desk seeking a driven and personable graduate. The team will provide the successful hire with on-the-job training and vast exposure to the fast-paced financial markets. We are ideally looking for a bright and enthusiastic individual that can work autonomously and collaboratively in a small team and can think on their feet. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of highly experienced team and would be perfect for somebody looking to start their career in Financial Services.

Role Responsibilities

  • Promote TP ICAP Group.

  • Provide complete support to the brokers for the smooth running of the desk.

  • Ensure timely input of trades into trading systems.

  • Resolve any trade queries received internally and externally, and ensure any trade discrepancies are resolved in a timely manner.

  • Identify trade opportunities and calculate strategies.

  • Keep trade records up to date.

  • Update real-time manual / electronic whiteboards with market data.

  • Provide input on various projects for brokers and traders.

  • Provide trade details to brokers and traders on a daily basis.

  • Give live quotes to traders through the messaging systems.

  • Monitor markets and follow financial news and developments.

  • Understand the underlying products being traded and keep up to date with knowledge of new products/procedures.

  • Liaise with clients, (via telephone, messaging and face to face) to understand the business objectives of your clients as to provide a reliable and efficient broking service.

  • Provide cover to clients, when team members are unavailable.

Experience / Competences

Essential

  • Proficient mathematics qualifications, either at GCSE and/ or A-Levels level is required as a minimum.

  • Demonstrated interest in the financial markets and the economy.

  • High level of computer competence.

  • Hard working and willingness to learn.

  • Resilient - ability to work effectively in a high-pressure environment, can keep emotions under control in difficult situations.

  • Build relationships and networks with both internally and externally wherever possible.

  • Self-development – naturally inquisitive to learn and develop and grow.  Actively seeking new ways to grow and be challenged using both formal and informal development channels.
