SGS is a rapidly expanding tool company based in Derby that specialises in the manufacture and distribution of gas struts, power tools, garage equipment, air compressors and hydraulic tools. Our clients range from one-off internet shoppers to multi-national corporations ordering thousands of units each year.
An opportunity has arisen for a new role in for a motivated candidate to support the wider finance team in preparing to implement a new ERP system. The Finance Administrator is responsible for investigating historical cash allocation issues and providing additional cover for core, daily transactional activity.
The ideal candidate will have previous experience in a similar capacity with proven capability and the ability to work towards targets, with excellent Excel skills and enjoys working as part of a team. You will have the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and have a can-do approach to your work.
Key Tasks & Responsibilities:
- Reconciliation and investigations of historical customer and supplier payment mismatches
- Posting of cash and matching to sales invoices on a timely basis
- Correcting discrepancies between cash received & invoiced
- Processing refunds and credits to the ledger on a timely basis
- Match and process stock and non-stock purchase invoices
- Agree courier invoices to consignments and rate cards
- Seek approval for non-PO invoices
- Supplier statement reconciliations
- Assist with the production of monthly supplier payment runs
- Review, validate and cleanse customer and supplier master data
- To provide ad hoc support to the wider accounts payable and accounts receivable teams as required
- Develop a functional understanding of the systems, processes and controls to effectively perform the role
What we are looking for in you:
- A hands-on approach to detailed reconciliation work is required
- Reconciliation of accounts with high volume/low value transactions
- Proficient user of Microsoft Excel for interrogation and manipulation of data
- Strong numerical and analytical skills
- Comfortable making and receiving calls to/from customers and suppliers
- Enthusiastic and adaptable working style, keen to identify opportunities for improvements
- Adaptable and keen to learn
- Be able to work well within a small team yet be able to work using their own initiative
