What are we looking for?

We are currently looking to recruit an Administrator to support our Court of Protection (Health & Welfare) team, who will ideally have 2 years' administration/support experience.

Where will you be based?

This role will be based in our Penrith office, but we may expect you to travel and work from other offices from time to time.

How many hours will you be working?

This is a full-time role which is 35 hours per week, however at EMG Solicitors we work flexibly, it's not a 9 to 5 role, but we do expect the work to be done, when you do it can be largely up to yourself, your Team Leader and the requirements of your clients.

A brief overview of the role:

This role sits within the Court of Protection, Health and Welfare team. We actively support one another and place a great deal of emphasis on teamwork. The main purpose of the role will be to provide an efficient and effective administration support to the Court of Protection, Health and Welfare department in our Penrith office.

Getting paid for the work you do.

In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring that your work contributes directly to the profitability and success of the department. This will involve:

  • Providing administrative support to the Court of Protection, Health and Welfare team.
  • Being responsible for audio and copy typing for the COP H&W team.
  • Opening new COP H&W and Mental Health files as appropriate, transferring time/relevant documents and closing files.
  • Arranging appointments with clients and visits to care homes/placements.
  • Preparing chitties, dealing with payment of invoices, preparing agendas, taking minutes.
  • Submitting bills to the Legal Aid Agency each month.
  • Preparing court bundles.

To be able to perform this job you will need.

  • To ensure that the firm's procedures are always adhered to and followed, respecting client confidentiality at all times.
  • You will need to be a well-motivated individual and demonstrate initiative.
  • Both strong typing skills and Microsoft skills including Word and Excel are essential.
  • Previous experience working in a legal administration/support role would be beneficial particularly if in a COP H&W department or other team conducting legal aid funded work
  • To have the confidence to inform the team leader of any serious problems you could encounter with client files.
  • To be willing to attend and complete any relevant training as required.
