Specialist Nurse | Cancer Services | Full Time | Permanent | Leeds – LS8
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Specialist Nurse in Cancer Services to join the Oncology Team on a full time, permanent basis.
- Shift Patterns: Monday-Friday 8am-6pm – 4days per week
- Telephone On Call will be required 1 in 6
- The service currently specialises in Breast Cancer, Gynaecology, Colorectal, Lung and Haematology cancers.
Spire Leeds Hospital, located in Roundhay, Leeds, has been treating patients for almost 30 years. We are the region's largest private hospital in terms of the range of services we offer and the number of consultants we work with. The hospital offers a range of services and facilities including four operating theatres, a sterile services department, a dedicated endoscopy suite, and a diagnostic and imaging department with an MRI and CT scanner. There are outpatient and physiotherapy departments providing services six days per week
Duties and responsibilities
Working within a highly supportive team you will provide care to patients with all types of conditions in Oncology. You will be provided with full mandatory training in this and will treat your own caseload of patients and make your own decisions as part of a wider team. You will also work alongside the consultants at the hospital providing exemplary care.
- To provide exemplary planned care for patients and assist in the management and organisation of care provision in Oncology Day Chemotherapy Centre. Care of cancer patients receiving Systemic Anti- Cancer Therapy (SACT).
- Assess patients' health and wellbeing across a complex and changing caseload of cancer patients.
- Assist in the delivery of care to meet individuals' health and wellbeing needs throughout the cancer treatment pathway.
- Provide and receive complex, sensitive or contentious information related to cancer patient care.
Who we're looking for
- NMC registered - your pin should not have any restrictions or conditions
- Have a minimum of 1-2 years' experience working in an Oncology/Haematology setting.
- Competent in venepuncture, phlebotomy and cannulation and the use of CVADs.
- Evidence of SACT competency.
- UK Oncology Nurse Society (UKONS) SACT passport (preferred but not essential).
- Post registration study in cancer care or equivalent (desirable but not essential).
- Compassionate and patient advocate.
- Excellent communication skills organised and can showcase excellent patient care.
