Care Professional

Bourne, Lincolnshire, United Kingdom Home Instead Full time £15,000 - £25,000 per year
Company Description

We're an award-winning home care provider and part of a worldwide organisation devoted to providing the highest-quality relationship-led care for older people in their own homes.

Job Description

We're looking for Care Professionals who are kind and compassionate and who, by understanding our values and our mission, are dedicated to delivering the highest standard of care. To ensure continuity for both Clients and Care Professionals, you will see the same Clients every week, with minimum one hour visits, enabling you to build a relationship and a routine focused around quality of life in the comfort of the Client's home.

Home Care is care carried out in an older adult's own home, rather than in another setting like a hospital, assisted living facility, care home or nursing home. If the person needs specific medical care it may be recommended that they move to one of these facilities, but most types of care – including complex care, dementia care, palliative care and more – can take place in the home. Home carers can assist with daily living activities in a safe manner while the older person remains in the comfort and familiarity of their own home where they can retain some or most of their independence. Home carers can help with tasks such as:

  • Personal care (such as getting to the bathroom and getting dressed)
  • Helping clients get to the bathroom during the night
  • Providing medication reminders, and administering this if relevant
  • Encouraging the person to eat nutritious meals
  • Providing meal preparation and cooking, while adhering to any dietary requirements
  • Helping with regular housework and other chores
  • Helping clients with mobility issues to move around safely in the home
  • Driving clients to weekly appointments
  • Offering regular companionship and observing their mental health
  • Organising enjoyable and stimulating activities for the client

The home environment is a key part of maintaining dignity in care for older adults, more so than other settings. Studies have found those receiving care in other settings, such as a hospital, experienced mild to severe loss of dignity. For this reason, helping an older adult to remain in their own home could drastically improve their care experience.

Qualifications

There's nothing more powerful than the ability to change somebody's life for the better every day, whether that's simply keeping them company, or offering more advanced personal or dementia care. And we'll give you all the training you need to confidently make the role your own. As a Care Professional, you can make a world of difference to people's lives the minute you step through your client's door, helping them to live independently, at home, with exceptional care. So if you just can't help but care, you'll find your role at Home Instead.

Additional Information

Our motto is 'To us its Personal' and we live up to this statement every day both in the way we treat our clients and our Care Professionals. As we provide relationship-led care, we match our Care Professionals to clients based on a range of factors including; personalities, interests and hobbies. Along with this we focus on continuity for both client and Care Profesional which means we can create meaningful relationships between Care Professionals and their clients, which makes their jobs even more fulfilling.

In addition to careful client matching, all visits are a minimum of one hour long, so there is plenty of time to provide high quality care and spend time with the client. When you join the Home Instead family you have the best of both worlds – all the benefits of a small, community-based business, but backed with over 25 years of global expertise in providing exceptional home care.
