Position Summary
Production Operatives have the function to lead by example; being part of a dedicated team of personnel. To meet the team objectives and business needs. Production Operatives to be part of the process and the team, highlighting any areas of concern or opportunities. Production Operatives to ensure that all company standards, policies and procedures are always adhered to and that any queries in this regard are dealt with effectively. In short, the company expects all its people to always act in the best interests of our business while taking full account of the needs of our customers and the welfare of our people. The role requires the following over and above any other additional tasks which may be assigned, and which are expected to be undertaken to meet the business needs. Must be able to perform all tasks safely and help create a safe and appropriate working environment for themselves and all other colleagues including but not limited to demonstrating Oceaneering's Core Values; Safety & the Environment, Teamwork & People, Customer Focus, Excellence, Accountability, Ethics AND Adhering to Oceaneering's Life Saving Rules at all times. Production Operator will work through competency-based workstations and will become competent in all related areas up to Lead Operator level.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Provides basic to moderate technical support for related professions and technical activities.
- Applies basic skills and assists with new tasks under direct supervision.
- Gains proficiency in the use of equipment and related matters.
- Problems and issues are routine with clearly prescribed solutions.
- Ability to follow and/or meet requirements of all related training.
- Ability to contribute towards, support and/or lead key processes and adhere to all required relevant standards including those related to Health & Safety, Process Leadership, Investigations, Materials Handling, Process Reporting, Paperwork (including JSEA documents), Product Quality and Production Schedule.
- Flexible to work shift rotations as and when required (subject to appropriate notice)
- Ensure and encourage their team adhere to all Oceaneering's safety policies & procedures, inc Life saving rules.
- Safe Start behaviors will be demonstrated by the Lead Operator and encouraged to the whole team daily.
- Will take part in daily Toolbox Talks with all personnel and ensure any risk assessment is read, understood & completed.
- STOP trained Production Operatives must complete at least one stop audit per week.
- Will responsible for achieving all work related targets and highlighting any related issues to Plant Management
- Will take ownership in highlighting to other functions (maintenance, QA, electrical test) any issues re downtime.
- Will drive time scales and ownership for process start ups at start of shift, end of shift and break times.
- Will highlight any improvement areas to improve production schedules.
- Will help ensure all checks are completed prior to start up using the clean sweep technique to assure product quality.
- Will ensure all data is recorded within the production package.
- Will ensure all data logging on the process is accurate, complete and documented throughout the shift.
- Will assist QA in non-conformance investigations to ensure correct problem statements are recorded and such matters dealt with expediently.
- Will take part in Engineering Handovers & Design Reviews so any issues can be highlighted early.
- Will take help organize of any reel/equipment requirements for the next task to ensure efficient changeovers.
- Positive attitude and constructive approach to work including flexibility to work alternative hours and/or shift rotations as and when reasonably required. where possible. Adequate notice will be provided but dependent upon business needs, customer requirements and any constraints applying
- Able to both works effectively as part of a team and, where required, work using their own initiative.
- Able to engage effectively with other colleagues and stakeholders including other departments and third parties as/when required to meet job requirements.
- Able to consistently learn and develop both to meet or exceed the expectations of the current role and embrace future career opportunities within the company when appropriate.
- Will assist with process checks prior to start, that all HSE requirements are adhered to and delegate tasks to the team to ensure efficient set up times from pay off carousel/reel to take up carousel/reel.
- Will take ownership of process housekeeping within their area of work.
- Will ensure any HSE matters, breaches in standards, wellbeing matters and/or training requirements for any of the team are highlighted to Manufacturing Foreman and documented/recorded
- Adheres to Oceaneering Life Saving Rules at all times
- Supports other departments within the Rosyth campus as required
- Participate in HSE Awareness – Observation Cards, HSE Safety Suggestions
- Perform the assigned tasks with due diligence regarding the Integrated Management Systems on the Company.
- Eliminate waste of whatever form, to suggest the use of more environmentally friendly substances and practices and contribute to the continuous improvement of the environment.
- Displays required levels of engagement and a positive can-do attitude while consistently supporting Oceaneering culture of Safety, Quality, ongoing learning and continual improvement.
- Any other roles or tasks as required to support our business needs including carrying out work in accordance with the Company Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality Systems plus related site policies/procedures.

- Background in a heavy manufacturing environment
