Role Overview

An experienced Estimator with commercial fit-out experience is needed to join a busy pre-construction team. This role will involve producing accurate cost estimates, assessing tender documents, liaising with subcontractors and suppliers, and supporting bid submissions for commercial interior projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyse drawings, specifications, and tender packages for commercial fit-out projects
  • Prepare detailed cost estimates, build-ups, and budgets (for CAT A / CAT B / joinery / partitions etc.)
  • Liaise with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain competitive quotations
  • Perform site visits and take-offs where required
  • Identify value-engineering opportunities and provide cost-saving options
  • Develop and maintain a database of rates, material costs, and supplier data
  • Support the commercial / pre-construction team in post-tender clarifications and negotiations
  • Document and present tenders in a professional format
  • Assist with risk assessments, cost variation analysis, and change-order pricing

Person Specification

  • Proven experience estimating commercial fit-out projects (offices, retail, hospitality, etc.)
  • Strong technical understanding of interior construction trades (dry lining, joinery, M&E, finishes)
  • Proficiency in estimating software (or advanced Excel)
  • Excellent numerical, analytical, and commercial skills
  • Ability to read and interpret design drawings, specifications, and architectural details
  • Good communication, negotiation, and stakeholder-management skills
  • Self-motivated, organised, and able to work independently under pressure
  • Willingness to conduct site visits
  • Qualified or experienced: degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or relevant estimating background desirable, but not always essential

Job Type: Fixed term contract

Contract length: 24 months

Pay: £350.00-£400.00 per day
