Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic individual to join our team as a Groundworker In this role, you will be responsible for contributing to our operations and ensuring that our objectives are met efficiently.

This will include a variety of manual and machinery-assisted tasks such as drainage, concreting, kerbing, paving, and general site preparation.

The ideal candidate will possess a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.

Our projects are based within a mile radius of York, so it is essential that you have transport to get to work.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Carry out site preparation, excavation, and levelling.
  • Install foundations, footings, and drainage systems.
  • Perform concreting, kerbing, block paving, and edging.
  • Lay ducting, manholes, and pipework for utilities and services.
  • Operate plant and machinery (e.g., mini diggers, dumpers) where trained and certified.
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and a tidy work area.
  • Adhere to health and safety procedures and use correct PPE at all times.
  • Assist other trades and site operatives as required.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members.

Skills

Essential:

  • Proven experience working as a Groundworker or Construction Operative.
  • Sound knowledge of groundworks methods, concreting, and drainage.
  • Understanding of construction site health and safety standards.
  • Ability to read and follow site drawings and specifications.
  • Good teamwork and communication skills
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Experience across multiple areas of construction (e.g., foundations, hard landscaping, slab laying).
