We have a exciting role which is applicable either to a experienced Band 6 SLT looking to extend their skills into a Band 7 role or for an existing Band 7 with experience in the area of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).

The role is part time (2 days per week) and covers one day working at Glenwood Special needs school and one day based at Benfleet Clinic to see preschool children or school aged children attending mainstream school settings.

The successful candidate will have a specialist interest in the area of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and relevant experience working with this client group.

The successful candidate will hold a dedicated caseload and will also provide support, second opinions and joint management/training of less experienced staff in the service.

The post holder will work in liaison with the existing Highly Specialist Speech & Language Therapist for ASD who covers the east of the service delivery to ensure full coverage of the EPUT delivery area

This is a Band 7 role and therefore will include duties which relate to senior management within the service including senior management team meetings, supervision and appraisal of less experienced staff, reviewing and adjusting relevant care pathways and policies in clinical specialist area.

The EPUT Children's SLT service is a strong and supportive team with staff bands 3 up to 8a. Robust clinical supervision is provided and peer to peer supervision and support is encouraged.

  • To lead and be responsible for the delivery of a Highly Specialist service to children (0 – 19) identified with or suspected of having Autism Spectrum Disorder impacting on their communication skills for the west of the service's delivery population which includes delivering a service to children at Glenwood Special needs school and from a community clinic in Benfleet
  • To liaise with Highly Specialist Speech & Language Therapist (ASD East) to ensure delivery across the whole population is consistent
  • To offer second opinions, joint management and training to less experienced members of the team
  • To be part of the EPUT Children's Speech and Language Therapy Team senior management structure alongside all other Band 7's in the service
