We're looking for passionate and knowledgeable tutors and assessors to deliver high-quality workshops, practical assessments, and engaging learning experiences for our nationally recognised fitness qualifications.

About the Role

As a Freelance Tutor/Assessor, you'll play a key role in supporting our learners from start to finish -bringing your real-world expertise, energy, and teaching skills to every session. You'll guide learners through their qualifications, assess practical competence, and help them develop the confidence and capability to succeed in the fitness industry.

This is a freelance position ideal for experienced instructors and assessors looking to take on flexible, rewarding work while contributing to ActiveFit's mission of raising standards in fitness education.

Essential Qualifications

  • Level 3 Certificate in Personal Training
  • Level 2 Certificate in Gym Instructing (Gym-Based)
  • Assessor qualification (CAVA, A1, or equivalent)
  • Teaching qualification (AET/PTLLS, CTLLS, DTLLS, or equivalent)
  • Experience working in a fitness or gym-based environment
  • Excellent communication and learner support skills
  • Commitment to continuous professional development
  • Full UK driving licence and access to transport

  • Level 3 Exercise Referral
  • Level 3 Exercise to Music
  • Level 3 Pre and Post Natal
  • Level 3 Physical activity for adolescents
  • Level 3 Planning and delivering exercise for older adults
  • Level 3 Nutrition
  • Level 3 Yoga or Pilates Instructor
  • Level 4 Strength and Conditioning
  • Level 4 Lower Back Pain
  • Level 4 Diabetic clients
  • Level 4 Obese clients
  • Level 4 Clients with Mental Health Conditions
  • CPDs in relevant disciplines (e.g. Kettlebells, Suspension Training, Padwork, Circuits, etc.)
  • Level 4 IQA
  • First Aid At Work

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging workshops and practical training sessions aligned with ActiveFit's standards
  • Assess learner evidence and provide clear, constructive feedback
  • Maintain accurate assessment and IQA documentation
  • Support learners in achieving competence and confidence in their studies
  • Create a positive, inclusive, and motivating learning environment
  • Represent the ActiveFit brand with professionalism and enthusiasm
  • Uphold our values of quality, integrity, and learner success

Core Skills and Attributes

  • Confident, engaging, and professional teaching presence
  • Strong understanding of fitness industry standards and best practice
  • Ability to adapt teaching styles to suit different learning needs
  • Excellent organisational and time-management skills
  • Passion for mentoring and supporting learner progression

Requirements

  • Minimum 1 year of experience in gym instruction and personal training
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in tutoring and/or assessing fitness qualifications
  • Attendance at an ActiveFit standardisation session prior to delivery
  • Ongoing commitment to CPD and quality standards
  • Experience using online learning platforms and Microsoft 365 tools

Experience

  • Fitness education delivery or assessment: 1 year (preferred)
  • Gym instruction or personal training: 1 year (preferred)

Rates & Allowances

  • £150 per day, with a lunch allowance provided for in-person training and assessment days.
  • Higher rates may be available for specialist courses or exceptional experience.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Fixed term contract, Temp to perm, Freelance, Zero hours contract
