Job purpose

I am looking for a Personal Assistant to support me to both in my home and in the community to experience the outside world, and to support me with visiting my Autistic son, who I look after.

About me

I live in Woodbridge, and I am seeking a Personal Assistant to support me both in my home and out and about. I am a wheelchair user. I would like my Personal Assistant to take me out and drive my minibus to take me to appointments, occasionally pick up medication from the chemist, take me shopping and to lunch. I would also like my Personal Assistant to support me to visit my Autistic son, who I look after.

My Personal Assistant will be required to support me with housework. When I am having a bad day, my Personal Assistant will be required to support me in the shower.

My Personal Assistant will also be required to walk, clean up after and support me to wash my small dog.

I do not smoke, so a non-smoker is required for this role. The successful candidate will be responsible to me as the employer.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

• Driving my minibus
• Taking me to appointments
• Supporting me to visit my son
• Supporting me with housework
• Supporting me in the shower when I am having a bad day
• Walking, cleaning up after and supporting me to wash my small dog

Personal Specification:

Essential Criteria

• Successful candidate must be over 24 years old with a clean, full UK driving licence to drive my Motability vehicle.
• Good communication skills.
• Non-smoker

Desirable Criteria

• Some previous medical training is desirable due to my conditions.
• Able to drive my minibus.
• Previous experience in a similar role.

Summary terms and conditions

• Hours, days and times of work: 11 hours per week- flexible days but ideally to be worked 10am-5pm Wednesdays and 10am-2pm on Thursdays.
• Pay rate: £13.55 per hour
• Annual leave: The annual holiday entitlement for this position will be equivalent to the work normally done during 5.6 weeks (statutory entitlement).
• Expenses: You will be reimbursed for prior agreed expenses incurred as part of the role.
• Sick pay: I do not operate a private sick pay scheme but provided you meet the eligibility criteria, you may be entitled to Statutory Sick Pay (SSP).
• Pension: I do not operate a private pension scheme but I will fulfil my statutory obligations via the NEST pension scheme.

The post is subject to the following

• Background check: A satisfactory Enhanced with Barred List Disclosure and Barring Service check is required for this position.
• References: If successful, you will be required to provide details of two referees, one of which must be your current or most recent employer, or character references if you have not been employed
• Trial period: This post is subject to a probationary period of 3 months.
