About the Role
We're seeking dedicated Tutors to join our Education Family Wellbeing Service (EFWS), working with children and young people who are Educated Other Than At School (EOTAS) or facing Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) challenges. You'll work across community settings to deliver effective educational provision, raise engagement, and improve student wellbeing and attainment.
Key Responsibilities
Teaching & Learning
Plan, prepare and deliver engaging lessons across the curriculum
Adapt teaching approaches to meet individual student needs within our extended curriculum
Develop and contribute to subject teaching schemes of work and resources
Mark, assess and provide constructive feedback on student learning
Maintain accurate records of teaching, learning, student assessment and progress
Student Support & Development
Work with students facing SEMH challenges in community settings
Promote high expectations and build student self-esteem
Register attendance and create safe, positive learning environments
Celebrate achievement and facilitate student voice activities
Collaboration & Communication
Compile reports and communicate progress to parents/carers and stakeholders
Work closely with Local Authorities, schools, colleges and other agencies
Participate in meetings regarding curriculum, student progress and wellbeing
Provide transitional support programmes within designated schools/settings
Share best practice and innovation in teaching and learning methods
Professional Development
Participate in CPD and training opportunities
Contribute to service review and policy implementation
Maintain and develop ICT skills and online learning tools
Cover for absent colleagues as needed
Essential Requirements
Experience teaching primary and/or secondary aged students
Experience working with students with SEND
Proven track record of raising wellbeing, achievement and engagement
Knowledge of the primary and/or secondary curriculum
Understanding of safeguarding, attendance and SEND legislation
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to monitor individual learning progress effectively
Commitment to equality, diversity and anti-discriminatory practice
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Functional Skills Level 2 or equivalent
Desirable Requirements
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
Experience teaching primary aged students
Experience developing formal and informal learning experiences
Experience working in partnership with parents/carers
Experience facilitating student voice activities

:
For Tutors with QTS: You'll exercise the professional skills and judgement to carry out the duties of a teacher as set out in the current School Teachers' Pay and Conditions Document and DfE Teachers' Standards.
For Tutors without QTS: You'll exercise your professional tutoring skills to support learning and wellbeing for students with SEMH needs.
