We are currently looking to recruit an experienced Firewall Engineer to be based in either our Preston or Erskine site. Suitable candidates must be able to obtain SC clearance.

Job Function

Delivers security solutions across firewall estate within client agreed procedures/processes

Provides security advice to aid decision making and inputs into architectural documentation to deliver solutions that best meet the needs of the customer

Participates in troubleshooting activities during all phases of projects and run and maintain

Takes ownership of incidents within agreed SLA/timescales.

Reponds to emergency situations and performs effective troubleshooting during outages.

Supports all security activities where necessary e.g external pen tests

Produces security reports as required by security function.

Ensure full awareness of the need to safeguard sensitive customer information at all times.

Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience

Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, or related field preferred

Six or more years of experience in network security engineering

Desirable (1 or more of following in order of preference)

PCNSA

CCNP Security

JNCIS-SEC

CCSE

Skills
A highly skilled Palo Alto Firewall engineer but also require knowledge of Cisco, Juniper, CheckPoint and Fortinet Firewalls

Good working knowledge of Layer 7 based rules and Next Generation Firewall capabilities configuration and deployment

Analytical and problem solving skills and ability to configure and interpret packet captures to assist in troubleshooting activities

Good understanding of Network protocols/methodologies.

Experience of API scripting is desirable

Ability to suggest enhancements were appropriate

Good interpersonal skills to interact with customers and team members

Good communication skills to interact with team members and senior support personnel

Ability to work in a team environment

Able to obtain Security Clearances.
