Client Accountant / Senior Accountant – £35,000 FTE

Location: Remote / Hybrid (Cannock based)

Hours: Full time or part time (At least 6 hours per day: 10am - 4pm)

Salary: £35,000 FTE

Expand Accounts is a fast growing accountancy practice specialising in the construction and trades industry. We work with builders, roofers, scaffolders, HVAC firms and other trades businesses to give them proper financial control, tax efficient structures and a finance team that actually drives growth, not just compliance.

We're looking for someone who's confident managing client relationships, keeping things moving behind the scenes, and ensuring deadlines are hit without needing their hand held. If you're proactive, sharp and organised, this is for you.

The role

  • Act as the main point of contact for a portfolio of construction clients
  • Handle client queries quickly and professionally (email, WhatsApp and calls)
  • Oversee onboarding for new clients including Xero setup, payroll and app connections
  • Upload jobs to outsourced teams, answer their queries and review their work before it goes to the client
  • Maintain control over deadlines, ensure filings are completed and chase missing information
  • Support weekly bank reconciliation and credit control processes
  • Review monthly management accounts and flag key insights to the director
  • Spot broken processes and fix them fast, both internally and for clients

What we're looking for

  • AAT, ACCA or CIMA qualified, or QBE with strong client management experience
  • Confident communicator who can own client relationships
  • Strong knowledge of Xero (essential), Dext and BrightManager (Bonus)
  • Comfortable managing a bank of clients
  • Previous experience working with construction or trades clients is ideal (but not essential if you learn fast)
  • Organised, fast and reliable, someone who gets stuff done without being chased
