Rotating Internship: Lumbry Park Veterinary Specialists - Starting 2026
Would you like to work alongside specialists and expand your knowledge, skills and experience in all areas of small animal practice? We are looking for enthusiastic and motivated veterinary graduates to join our current team of rotating interns at Lumbry Park Veterinary Specialists. The majority of our past interns have gone on to pursue service specific internships or residencies with some interns choosing to bring their new found knowledge and skills back to first opinion practice.

Our internship Programme
Our rotating interns are an integral part of our team and integrate into the various services here at Lumbry Park.

The 12-month programme
includes rotations through Internal Medicine, Emergency and Critical Care, Orthopedic Surgery, Soft Tissue Surgery, Neurology, Dermatology, Cardiology, Diagnostic Imaging, Anesthesia and Ophthalmology. A unique aspect to our internship is the ability to tailor your service weeks to your personal interests. Up to 20% of your time will be immersion in services of your choice allowing each intern to experience an individualized programme. Our internship programme also includes out of hours coverage including weeknights and weekends. During these shifts, you will be working alongside Registered Veterinary Nurses and Patient Care Assistants and will be responsible for hospitalised patients with back-up support from clinicians. A week of night shifts is followed by a full week off to recover allowing our interns to maintain an excellent quality of life and to return to work fully refreshed.

We have an active learning ethos and rotating interns participate in morbidity and mortality rounds, case presentations, journal club and book clubs. We also run a weekly intern seminar to discuss and reflect on interesting cases. We have a structured education program with both self-directed and specialist led learning activities each month. You will also have a clinical mentor at the hospital to provide support and guidance specific to your chosen area of interest. Many of our interns achieve scientific publications during their year here.

Salary And Benefits
In addition to a salary (£32,000 per annum), you will have 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays, £1,000 CPD allowance over a period of 5-days, RCVS and VDS membership, company contributory pension scheme and other company fringe benefits.

Our Hospital
LPVS is a referral only hospital with a range of veterinary specialists. We have modern state-of-the-art facilities within the hospital including digital radiography, ultrasonography, MR (1.5T), CT (16 Slice), video-endoscopy (GI, airway, arthroscopy, laparoscopy, thoracoscopy) as well as digital fluoroscopy for interventional cardiology and radiology. LPVS is linked to the University of Surrey Veterinary School and final year students complete their intramural rotations with us providing our interns with excellent opportunities to get involved with informal teaching of undergraduate veterinary students.
