Job Purpose

The Youth Coordinator will maintain strong and supportive relationships with university mentees, mentees referred from overseas partner organisations, and alumni from specific schools and locations. This includes providing ongoing follow-up, organising focus groups, and creating opportunities for continued personal, academic, and professional development. The role will ensure all participants feel connected to the charity, supported in their growth, and engaged as active members of the community.

Key Responsibilities

Programme Planning & Delivery

  • Develop, coordinate, and facilitate youth programmes, workshops, and events in line with the charity's mission and objectives.
  • Design activities that promote mental, physical, spiritual, and moral development.
  • Ensure all programmes are inclusive, culturally sensitive, and youth-led where possible.

Youth Engagement & Support

  • Build positive, trusting relationships with young people, encouraging their active participation.
  • Provide mentoring, guidance, and signposting to support services when needed.
  • Encourage youth to take leadership roles within projects and activities.

Administration & Reporting

  • Maintain accurate records of attendance, activities, and outcomes.
  • Prepare regular reports for management and funders on programme impact.
  • Ensure compliance with safeguarding policies, health & safety regulations, and charity governance standards.

Focus Groups

· Organise and facilitate focus groups with university mentees, referred mentees from overseas partners, and alumni to gather feedback on their experiences and needs.

· Use insights to improve mentoring programmes, strengthen support networks, and enhance alumni engagement.

· Ensure diverse representation and inclusive discussion in all sessions.

Partnerships & Outreach

  • Work with schools, community groups, and local authorities to promote programmes.
  • Collaborate with other organisations to maximise opportunities for young people.
  • Represent the charity at events, meetings, and networking opportunities.

Person Specification

· Essential:

· Experience in youth work, education, community development, or a related field.

· Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

· Ability to inspire, motivate, and relate to young people from diverse backgrounds.

· Understanding of safeguarding, child protection, and equality policies.

· Organisational and time management skills.

· Desirable:

· Relevant youth work qualification (e.g., Level 3 or above).

· First aid and mental health first aid training.

· Experience in monitoring and evaluating youth programmes.

Working Conditions

  • Flexible working hours, including evenings and weekends as required.
  • Travel to local sites and events may be necessary.
  • A DBS check will be required prior to appointment.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: £10,500.00-£11,700.00 per year
