We are looking for a passionate and creative cook who can prepare fresh nutritionally balanced meals for all the children in our care. We want someone who is enthusiastic, adaptable, creative I the kitchen and willing to be part of our children's learning journey.
Main responsibilities
- Providing balanced and nutritional meals for all children aged 3months to 5 years in accordance with our nursery menus
- Adhering to the policies and procedures of the nursery and complying with the food hygiene requirements of Ofsted and the food standards agency
- Making sure that all relevant records are kept in line with health and safety and food hygiene to satisfy the Environmental Health Department
- Ensuring that all foods are ready at the specified time and correctly served
- Organising, planning, and cooking nutritionally balanced meals for babies and small children who have specific dietary needs
- Maintaining correct stock levels, carrying out stock rotation, and ensuring all stock is clearly labelled to include expiry dates
- Being aware of COSHH to following relevant guidelines
- Successfully working as part of a team using your initiative when it comes to managing your time and prioritising tasks
- Contributing ideas to menu planning and ensuring the children receive a healthy, nutritionally balanced, and culturally diverse diet
- Maintaining a safe, clean, tidy, and healthy kitchen environment
- Readily contributing to children's learning and development by creating special recipes and key learning experience with them
Qualifications and skills
- A minimum Level 2 Food Hygiene Certification
- Paediatric First Aid Certification (not essential)
- An awareness of food allergies
- Enhanced DBS certificate (ideal, if not will be paid for by company)
- The ability to use food preparation equipment and ensure the economic use of materials, equipment, and energy
- The ability to order correct amounts of food and control kitchen stock
- Friendly and flexible approach when it comes to meeting nursery needs
- Commitment to undertaking training and continued professional development

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Permanent
Pay: Up to £32,000.00 per year
