We are seeking an experienced Senior PHP Developer for a
part-time engagement
supporting backend projects aligned with our UK and Germany operations. The role focuses primarily on PHP backend development, with opportunities to contribute to Python (FastAPI)-based modernization initiatives. This role is ideal for senior professionals with strong PHP expertise who prefer flexible working hours while still contributing to impactful backend modernization projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend solutions in PHP.
  • Support legacy systems while contributing to modernization efforts.
  • Collaborate with distributed teams across the UK, Germany, and India.
  • Participate in code reviews, architecture discussions, and release planning.
  • Assist in developing APIs and integrations with Python-based services.
  • Optimize performance, ensure data security, and maintain documentation.
  • Work part-time with flexible hours aligned to UK time zones.

Must-Have Skills

  • 5+ years of experience in backend development using PHP (Laravel or similar frameworks).
  • Strong understanding of OOP, MVC design patterns, and REST API architecture.
  • Experience with MySQL / PostgreSQL databases.
  • Basic familiarity with Python and willingness to work with FastAPI.
  • Knowledge of Git, CI/CD pipelines, and deployment workflows.
  • Strong proficiency in English, with the ability to communicate clearly in both written and spoken form.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage part-time deliverables effectively.

Education And Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of professional PHP development experience.
  • Prior experience working with distributed or remote teams preferred.
