Southampton SO YD, United Kingdom University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust Full time

University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust is delighted to offer a fantastic opportunity to work with us.

Please see below for detailed job description of the role.

An exciting opportunity has been created to support the Upper and Lower GI suspected cancer diagnostic pathway. The successful applicant will be working closely with patients and the relevant clinical team to ensure a seamless transition through the diagnostic phase of the process.

We are looking for two dedicated candidates who are confident liaising with stakeholders in both primary and secondary care. The role would suit an applicant experienced in patient / customer facing roles who is comfortable collecting accurate and timely data.

This is a new role to the organisation and the successful candidate will have the opportunity to have a visible impact on patient experience and the achievement of national cancer targets.

University Hospital Southampton is one of England's largest acute teaching Trusts, offering a wide range of learning and development opportunities to support your career aspirations.

Located on the south coast with an international airport and direct rail links to London, Southampton offers an ideal setting to live and work, with the New Forest, South Downs and Jurassic Coast.

We believe that using technology wisely shows strong time management and commitment to innovation. However, personalizing your recruitment application to highlight your unique skills and experiences is crucial. Relying too heavily on generic, AI-generated content instead of drawing from your own strengths and accomplishments may lead to your application being rejected if multiple candidates present identical or similar information.

At UHS we're committed to providing a flexible working environment where possible. Whether you are balancing family, study, or your wellbeing with your career, we want to support you so you can help our patients.

At UHS, we proudly champion individuality, recognizing that outstanding care is only possible with a diverse, inclusive team. We're committed to creating an anti-racist, anti-discriminatory environment where everyone feels valued, safe, and empowered to make a meaningful impact in our communities. We welcome applicants of all backgrounds, identities, and experiences to join us in building a healthcare community where everyone can belong, thrive, and contribute.

You will act as centralised point of contact for patients. This role involves proactively reaching out to patients to provide the necessary assistance.

You will also support the clinical team in guiding patients through the early stages of the diagnostic pathway.

As part of a multi-disciplinary team, you will work alongside the Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) team, escalating patient concerns when appropriate and identifying the need for additional CNS support.

Your responsibilities will include coordinating patient care throughout their hospital journey, providing them with relevant information, and managing any test preparations that need to be collected or completed by the patient.

Additionally, you will assist in tracking patient pathways, while ensuring the collection, verification, and input of complete and accurate data to meet the Cancer Outcomes and Services Dataset (COSD) and other data set requirements.

You will ensure that care is patient-focused and complies with National Cancer Targets and Improving Outcomes Guidance.
