Resource Manager – OCU Connect
Location: Stockport
Fully office / site based role
OCU Connect is at the forefront of the UK's utilities and energy transition sector. We deliver critical infrastructure across Substations, Grid Solutions, Manufacturing & O&M, and Data Centre/ICP projects – and we're growing fast.
To support this growth, we're looking for a Resource Manager to take ownership of how our people, skills, and assets are deployed across the business. This is a high-impact role where your decisions directly shape project performance, workforce capability, and operational success.
If you're driven, organised, people-focused, and thrive in a fast-moving environment – this is where you can make a real difference.
What You'll Do
As our Resource Manager, you'll be the strategic link between operational needs and workforce delivery. You will:
Plan & Allocate Resources
- Ensure the right people, plant, materials, and tools are deployed at the right time across multiple projects.
- Adapt quickly to shifting priorities and operational demands.
Lead & Develop Teams
- Line manage site-based teams including Supervisors, Electricians / Wirepeople, Jointers, and Fitters.
- Support performance, engagement, and ongoing skills development.
Shape Workforce Capability
- Partner with Project Leads and Operations Managers to forecast capacity and future resource requirements.
- Identify skills gaps, risks, and constraints – and help build solutions.
Optimise External Labour
- Manage and develop relationships with third-party labour providers to ensure flexible, compliant, value-for-money resourcing.
Support Recruitment & Onboarding
- Work closely with HR and Talent Acquisition to secure talent and support onboarding and upskilling.
Provide Critical Visibility & Insight
- Produce accurate utilisation data, dashboards, and resource reports.
- Support tendering, bidding, and mobilisation by providing resource intelligence.
Drive Standardisation & Continuous Improvement
- Help roll out consistent resource management processes across all OCU Connect teams.
- Champion compliance, safety, and high performance in everything you do.
Your Impact
You'll be accountable for:
- Effective and timely resource deployment
- 95%+ planned utilisation
- Zero project delays due to resourcing
- Accurate, up-to-date resource data
- Strong stakeholder relationships
- Quarterly forecasting and capability planning
- Driving continuous improvement in resource processes
This isn't just a scheduling role – it's a strategic function that underpins project delivery and operational excellence.
What You'll Bring
We'd love to hear from you if you have:
- Experience in resource planning, workforce deployment, or operational management
- A background in engineering, utilities, construction, or infrastructure (preferred)
- Experience managing external labour and supplier performance
- Strong organisational, communication, and stakeholder management skills
- A data-driven mindset with the ability to make informed decisions quickly
- Knowledge of industry safety and compliance standards
- Experience with scheduling/resource management systems (desirable)
- Experience managing or coordinating site-based teams (advantageous)
