An exciting opportunity to lead a thriving Humanities department in our outstanding Newham school

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced leader to take on the role of Head of Humanities. You will inherit a strong and committed team and have the opportunity to build upon existing success, driving further development and innovation across History, Geography, and RE.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide effective leadership and management for a well-established Humanities department.
  • Build upon the existing strengths of the department and identify areas for further growth.
  • Support and develop the expertise of the Humanities teaching team.
  • Ensure the curriculum remains relevant, engaging, and challenging.
  • Maintain excellent standards of teaching, learning, and assessment.
  • Contribute positively to the wider life of the school.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
  • Degree in a Humanities subject (History, Geography, RE, or related).
  • Significant experience teaching within the Humanities at secondary level, with demonstrable leadership experience in a successful department.
  • Proven ability to lead and manage a team effectively.
  • Strong understanding of curriculum development and assessment.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and strategic thinking skills.
