Your Role: Sound Designer - Smooth
This is an exciting opportunity to join the team behind Smooth, one of the UK's biggest commercial radio brands, reaching 7.6 million listeners every week
As a Sound Designer, you'll create standout imaging and branded content solutions for all Smooth stations across the UK, helping to shape the sound that listeners know and love.
Working within our Sound Design team, you'll help bring on-air events such as Smooth's All Time Top 500 to life, and turn briefs from household brands into scripts and audio that grab attention.
As a Sound Designer at Global, you will:
Key Responsibilities
Produce Branded Content Audio: You'll write and produce live reads, sponsor credits and promos for any client-led activity across the Smooth brand.
Produce Imaging and Promos: You'll help develop the station sound, by writing and producing standout sweepers, promos and branded intros that'll be played across the Smooth Network and its brand extensions.
Load and Schedule Audio: You'll ensure audio is delivered to the playout system with the correct metadata so it's ready to be broadcast on-air, using Zetta and GSelector where appropriate.

Own It: You'll take responsibility of commercial and programming campaigns, taking audio from the first brief to the final mix.
Keep it Simple: You'll get to turn complex briefs into clean, punchy audio that sounds effortless.
Better Together: You'll work closely with voiceover artists and fellow Sound Designers, to turn your ideas into full pieces of audio.
What Success Looks Like
In your first few months, you'll have:
Worked alongside the team to develop the sound of the Smooth brand.
Developed a balanced understanding of Global, Smooth and its brand extensions.
Produced audio that's been heard by millions of people.
Received professional training and guidance where needed.
What You'll Need
A superior understanding of Pro Tools: You'll know your EQ from your compression, and can turn a blank session into polished audio fast.
A great knowledge of radio: You'll have hands-on experience of producing imaging or branded content audio for a radio station.
Attention to detail: You're a natural problem-solver with a keen eye for detail, an approachable attitude, and the creativity to make every piece of audio stand out.
Excellent time management: You thrive in a busy environment, delivering polished audio quickly without letting quality slip.
Creative writing: You know how to write engaging scripts, and can write in natural, spoken English that works perfectly on air.
Ownership and collaboration: You take responsibility of your own goals, help others in achieving business goals, and constantly push for higher standards.
