The Role
Are you a passionate and driven engineer with a flair for fluid dynamics? An exciting opportunity has opened up for a talented, enthusiastic, and motivated Fluid Analyst to join our cutting-edge Analysis, Modelling & Simulation Team within the Mission Systems business unit.
This is more than just a job-it's a chance to work at the forefront of engineering innovation, supporting some of the most advanced naval platforms in the world. You'll play a key role in delivering high-impact analysis that directly influences the performance, safety, and reliability of critical mechanical and fluid systems across both submarine and surface ship platforms.
- Delivering high-quality fluid analysis to support a wide range of projects, ensuring work is completed on time and within budget.
- Authoring technical documentation that provides robust, customer-facing qualification evidence for complex systems.
- Driving innovation by contributing to the evolution of our fluid analysis methodologies, enhancing both accuracy and efficiency.
- Pushing technical boundaries by developing and applying advanced techniques such as compressible and multiphase CFD analysis to meet emerging customer needs.
This role is full time, 37 hours per week and provides hybrid/remote working arrangements.
Essential Experience of the Fluid Analyst
- Experience in fluid analysis in a high integrity environment.
- Understanding of first principle fluid dynamics.
- Experience using Computational Fluid Dynamics (Babcock use Fluent and CFX), 1D modelling (Babcock use Python, Matlab and AMESim).
- Experience / awareness of transient 2D and 3D analysis.
- Mechanical Degree, or HND or HNC in an Engineering Discipline with demonstrable experience and capability.
The successful candidate must be a sole UK national who is able to achieve and maintain Standard (BPSS) security clearance for this role. However, the successful candidate must obtain Security Check (SC) security clearance once in post.
